In our previous post we began looking at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s “Safest Cars for 2007″.
There are seven vehicles in the Midsize SUV category that made the list:
2007 Acura RDX - it is model year debut, the Acura RDX received Good ratings in the frontal and size impact crash tests and comes standard with electronic stability control.
2007 Ford Edge - also making its debut is the 2007 Ford Edge which received “Good” ratings in both crash test categories. ESC (electronic stability control) comes standard in the 2007 Ford Edge.
2007 Honda Pilot - Honda’s well reviewed midsize SUV also makes the grade with “Good” ratings and comes standard with ESC.
2007 Lincoln MKX - another new model, this time from Lincoln makes the list of “safest cars for 2007″. The 2007 Lincoln MKX comes standard with ESC and performed well in both the frontal and side-impact crash tests.
2007 Mercedes M Class - the Mercedes M class has been recognized for excellence in safety since 1999. With standard ESC and good performance in both crash tests, the 2007 Mercedes M Class blends luxury with safety.
2007 Subaru B9 Tribeca - Subaru has a long-standing reputation for building quality vehicles, and the B9 Tribeca is no exception. 2006 and 2007 models years have made the “safest vehicles” list.
2007 Volvo XC90 - Volvo is another brand long associated with safety. The 2007 Volvo XC90 continues the trend of “safest midsize suv” a recognition it has earned since 2003.
SMALL SUVS
Two vehicles round out the list for 2007 Safest Vehicles:
2007 Honda CR-V - The Honda CR-V has performed well in the front impact crash test since 2002. With the addition of front and rear head curtain airbags and front seat mounted torso airbags, the Honda CR-V moved onto the list of safest small SUV in 2005 and has remained there ever since.
2007 Subaru Forester - just like the B9 Tribeca, the Subaru Forester is another “safest” vehicle from the Subaru line. “Good” results in the frontal crash test date back to 1999, and side-impact to 2003. Electronic stability control is option on the 2007 Subaru Forester.
Foreign manufacturers dominate in these categories - which isn’t very good news for the Big 3 Detroit manufacturers. To learn more information about any of these vehicles you can read more from the IIHS website or you can request a speak with a local car dealer in the AutoFigures.com dealer network.
