It wasn't a great sign for greenies that instead of driving away from the Detroit press conference in one of the Volt plug-in hybrid prototypes that GM has been testing, Henderson motored off in an 2010 Cadillac SRX crossover. EPA fuel economy numbers haven't been announced, but GM says it hopes the new SRX will deliver “mid-20s” on the highway, which means it isn't likely to deliver much more than 20 mpg in combined city and highway driving. GM says the Volt, which can deliver up to 40 miles on all-electric drive before its gas engine-generator kicks in, should be rated at close to 100 mpg.
