What to buy? A new or used vehicle

by Jeff on October 16, 2007

Getting the most car for the least amount of money

We have all heard it said at one time or another - when you buy a new vehicle you loose a couple thousand dollars just driving off the lot.

Unfortunately, I heard that saying a little too late. I had already bought two brand spanking new vehicles and paid off two 60-month loans before I got wise. Then I decided to purchase a vehicle that was 3-years-old and with around 40,000 miles on it. I got a great price from a dealer, got the car paid off quicker, and I am still driving it today 6-years later not owing a cent. [click to continue...]

Your Dream Car and You

by Jeff on October 16, 2007

Is your personality reflected in your ideal ride?

Is it true? You are what you drive. Well maybe… I am sure there are many people who dream of their ideal vehicle, but is that what they can really afford to purchase? I love my Honda Civic Hatchback, but hello…I would say sianara any day for a Mercedes C230 hatchback. I’m not crazy. The only thing is a C230 would probably have to fall from the sky. Do you think I have a chance?

Albeit, both vehicles look somewhat similar in shape, a Honda says something totally different then Mercedes. So maybe the more appropriate statement is - you are what you dream of driving. If this is the case then let’s focus on your dream car and what it says about you. [click to continue...]

Best Cars For Worst Drivers

by Jeff on October 15, 2007

My sister lives in the city of Chicago. Smack downtown near Michigan Ave. and Lakeshore drive. Where she often is spotted driving her little silver VW Jetta. Now even though Erin has been driving for over 10-years, city driving is just too much for this girl.

Too much chaos, too much aggressivenes, and worse - she hesitates like a Grandma. Bless her, she has been in her fair share of fender benders.

I am sure we all know someone like this. A friend, a family member, an idiot on the road… you see them and you see big flashing lights blinking - DANGER, DANGER, DANGER. If this is you, or one of your loved ones, and you are tired of riding around teeth clenched and white knuckled. There could be a viable solution. You can find a car that will be the simplist to use, easiest to handle, and safest to drive. [click to continue...]

Go Smart Car!

by Jeff on October 15, 2007

How can you not love the Smart Car?

If you were anything like me when you were little, you dreamed of jumping inside of your matchbox cars. You know… getting shrink gunned down, jumping in and driving away. Well now because of the Smart Car you can actually do it… well almost.

Made by a European company named Smart (smartusa.com) who later merged with Mercedes Benz, Smart has been primarily a Euro micro-car. But due to American’s need for more fuel-efficient vehicles as well as vehicles that prevent congestion. Smart will soon be available in the States as early as 2008. [click to continue...]

Are SUVs Safer for Children

by Jeff on October 12, 2007

I am at the age when my friends are all having children. Some are already on to there second and third. It has been since I decided to keep my tiny compact car to drive around my own son that I realized I was breaking some hidden cardinal rule.

As my friends put it, “You are nuts! You can’t drive around a baby in a Civic, you need a bigger car. You need an SUV.” I never caved in. I am just not a big car type. I like them cute, tight, sometimes edgy and definitely compact.

So is the myth true. Are bigger cars actually safer to drive, especially when an infant or small children are passengers? Let’s see what the experts have to say…

According to an interesting article in the health section of the mindfully.org website - it is a myth that children are more safe in an SUV then a sedan. [click to continue...]
