Now touring the country is a revival of the musical “Fiddler on the Roof”, a farewell tour for the long-standing star Topol. With music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, the play is set in early 1900 Tsarist Russia. Wikipedia notes that the story “is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Milkman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem.
